Shazia Ilmi is an Indian politician. She was born on 2 April 1970 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Before starting her political career, she was a television journalist and anchor at Star News. Shazia was a member of the Aam Aadmi Party’s National Executive but left the party in 2014 and joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2015. Her father, Maulana Ishaq Ilmi, was the founder and editor of Siyasat Jaddi, a Kanpur-based Urdu Newspaper. Shazia’s brother Dr. Aijaz Ilmi is a member and spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Shazia has spent 15 years in the television industry and documentary production.
Shazia has experience in anchoring and anchored a show on Star News, where she hosted and produced prime-time news show Desh Videsh. She has also been a member of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television. Shazia was a member of the National Executive of the Aam Aadmi Party. She also contested the Lok Sabha Elections in 2014 for the Aam Aadmi Party from Ghaziabad, but unfortunately, she lost. She also fought in the Anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare.
