He has had a keen interest in music since his childhood. He had been on stage since the tender age of four. He started his career at age 13 when he first recorded with the composers Lakshmi Kant and Pyarelal. Since then, he has gone on to work with mainstream Indian film music from the 1980s and 1990s.
