Sougata Banerjee

Sougata Banerjee is a professional vocalist and musician. He is from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is popularly known for performing classical and ghazal in the Indian Music Industry. He comes from a family with a history of performing Hindustani Sangeet, also known as Bishnupur Gharana. His grandfather was a music teacher (Param Pujya Sangeetacharya), Satya Kinkar Bandyopadhyay Hindustani Vocal maestro, and the doyen of the Bishnupur Gharana. His father is a Param Pujya Pandit named Nihar Ranjan Bandyopadhyay. He is a renowned musician who performs Hindustani music. Sougata Banerjee is the senior disiple from Mewati Gharana of Param Pujya Guruji (Teacher) Padma Vibhushan Sangeet Martand Jasraj Ji. He was taught Bishnupur Gharana Stalwarts by his Param Pujya grandfather.

Banerjee is one of the greatest ghazal and classical vocalists of the era. He has performed throughout the world. Plus, he is an accomplished music composer and vocal trainer. He is spreading the essence of Indian classical music and Indian Culture across the globe with the effect of his music. He performed in front of many established Indian musicians in different parts of the world. Pandit Jasraj Ji, an illustrious Guru Ji at Tampa, was impressed by his performance and bestowed Sougata with the title of “Pandit.” He received the All India National Scholarship in 1997. Also, he won the Sri Jadu Bhatta Award from the Salt Lake Music Circle in 2008.

He has released many albums including “Phir Koi Dard Jaga Do,” “Surili Shaam,” “Aankh Se Door Na Ho,” “Jinke Honton Pe Hansi,” “Agar Talaash Karun,” “Aap Ki Yaad Aati Rahi Raat Bhar,” “Elomelo Bhabna,” “Meghe Meghe,” “Ab To Ghabraa Ke,” “Ek Nasha,” “Asar,” and “Aankhon Ka Tha Qusoor.” Also, Sougata owns a YouTube channel where he posts music videos for his fans. He has been relevant in the industry for over a decade now. It’s all because of his hard work and dedication to his profession.
