Shridhar Phadke

Famous Marathi music composer, director, and singer Shridhar Phadke was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His compositions were usually in the Marathi language. Born to famous Marathi composer and singer Sudhir Phadke Sudhir Phadke who was born on 25th of July in the >> Read More... and Lalitabai Phadke, talent runs through his blood. He completed his graduation from the prestigious “D. G. Ruparel College of Arts Science and Commerce.” Later, in 1970, he pursued his post-graduation in Information Technology from the United States of America. As an Executive Director-IT of “Air- India,” Shridhar later retired from the post in 2009.

Debuted as a music director, Shridhar worked for the film “Lakmichi Paule.” The director chose his tune after hearing “Phite Andharache Jale.” Earlier, Sudhir was to compose for the film. But the contract was given to Shridhar for all songs as he managed to win the heart of the film director. Without any prior music training, Shridhar established himself as a renowned singer and music composer. During his post-graduation, he composed his first tune for a devotional song named ‘Devachiye Diwari.’ His father, Sudhir, appreciated the melody and gave his approval to the same. Shridhar did many musical shows in the US. He had composed music for several Marathi and Hindi movies as well.

Some of his compositions include “Vaarsa Laxmicha, He Gagana, Omkar Swaroopa, Laxmichi Phule, Putravati, Sadaphuli, Vishwavinayak, Rutu Hirawa, Lilaav, Lekru, Swarvel, Aboliche Bol,” and many others. He did several concerts and performed all over the world. His famous performances were “Rutu Hirawa, Phite Andharache Jaale, Geet Ramayan (songs from Geet Ramayan), and Babujinchi Gaani (songs composed by Sudhir).” Shridhar received many prestigious awards like; “Filmfare Award(Marathi)” for the ‘Best Music' category for three films - ‘Varsha Laxmicha(1994), ‘Putravati(1996), and ‘Lekaru(2000).
