Sudhir Phadke who was born on 25th of July in the year 1919 was a well-established Marathi Composer and singer. He had also composed and sang many songs in Hindi. His nickname was “ Babuji.” He was born in Kolhapur. His parents named him as “Ram Phadke.” As he grew up and came into the industry, and was composing a song for HMV, he changed his name to “Sudhir Phadke.”

He has learned classical music in Kolhapur from the late Vamanrao Padhye. He started his career in the year 1941 with HMV. Later on, in the year 1946, he joined Prabhat Film Company as a music director. He has also worked as a playback singer. He has composed music for many Hindi and Marathi films in his long career. Sudhir Phadke got married to Lalita Deulkar who was his fellow singer. They both have a son named “Shridhar Phadke” who was born in the year 1950, and he also became a singer and composer. Sudhir’s most popular work name is “Geet Ramayana” which is based on the verses of a famous poet named “G D Madgulkar.” Geet Ramayana contains 56 Marathi songs.

From the year 1954 to 1955, this program was aired on All India Radio. A huge crowd gathers even today if the program is performed on stage. All the 56 songs were composed by Phadke and were sung by different singers named Manik Verma, Lata Mangeshkar, Lalita Deulkar, Ram Phatak, and much more for radio. He was producing a Hindi film on the life of Vinayal Damodar Savarkar who was a freedom fighter, during his last days. Sudhir composed and sang his last song for the movie named “Veer Savarkar” which was funded by Public Donations. Sudhir Phadke was also a member of Goa Freedom Movement.

For over sixty years, he was connected with “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh” post the freedom fight of India. He was the founder and inspiration of India Heritage Foundation in the US (United States). He, as a music director has done around 111 films, out of which 21 are in in Hindi. He has worked with legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Sudhir Phadke has won many Awards like National Film Award at 11th National Film Awards in the year 1963 in the category of Best Feature Film in Marathi for “Ha Majha Marg Ekta. Not only this, he has been awarded Sangeet Natak Akademi in the year 1991. In April 2002, he got Sahyadri Swara Ratna Puraskar which was presented by DD Sahyadri.

Sudhir Phadke died on 29th of July in the year 2002 in Mumbai at 10:30 AM. He was suffering from brain hemorrhage. Sudhir’s body was kept at Veer Savarkar Memorial which is situated in Dadar, Central Mumbai. Many admirers came there to pay him the last tributes. Between Dahisar and Borivali, there is Dahisar River, which was named after him. A flyover which goes over the railway line is also named after him.

Also in 2010, she sang the songs Oh Girl You’re Mine and Papa Jaag Jaayega for Sajid Khan’s comedy film, Housefull. The song Adhoore, which she sang for Danish Aslam’s romantic comedy-drama film, Break Ke Baad was well-received by the audiences. Her breakthrough song Khaabon Ke Parinday from the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) also became very popular. She also rendered the song entitled Meen in the 2013 Malayalam film, Amen. Alyssa has also sung the song “Be You” for, a fashion and lifestyle e-commerce portal based in Gurgaon, which was featured in different India TV channels. She also sang Kushfehmiyan with Shankar Mahadevan for the 2014 Hindi romantic comedy film, One By Two and Phi Bhi Yeh Zindagi for the 2015 comedy-drama film, Dil Dhadakne Do.
