Raisa Padamsee is an Indian film actress, known for Mani Kaul’s movie Duvidha (1973). She is half Indian and half French. Raisa’s mother, Solange Gunelle, is French and her father, Akbar Padamsee, is a well-known artist and also a painter. Renowned painter, M.F. Hussain, gave Padamsee her first name, Raisa. His own daughter’s name is also Raisa.
Famous ad filmmaker Alyque Padamsee is her uncle, who is married to Sharon Prabhakar, a singer, and actress. Shazahn Padamsee, also an actress, is Raisa’s cousin She played the female lead in the film Duvidha (1973) alongside Malayalam actor Ravi Menon. Coincidentally, he too made his debut with Duvidha. Duvidha won national award for best director and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Film.
Raisa played the role of a silent bride in the movie and also she could only speak French at that time. Duvidha was Raisa’s first and the last movie in Indian film industry as later she moved back to Paris. The movie was then made with the name Paheli (a Bollywood Film), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukheree. She married filmmaker Laurent Brégeat, and at present, she lives in Paris with her family.
