Indrani Dutta has acted in Bengali films and she had the passion for acting even while she was in school. She was good in sports and dance then. In fact, she gained formal training in music and dance and outshined other students in sports in school. Listening to music and collection of stamps were Indrani’s liked hobbies.
Born on 6th April 1970, Indrani gained a degree in Arts and was bestowed with the Pravakar in Kathak dance. She had great artistic fervor and it was seen in her passion for interior design, gardening and music. She is an amiable person and was liked by every age group. She is a conscientious citizen as well as an environmentalist. She is in fact fervently involved in People for Animals.
Indrani was introduced on the big screen with the film Nadia Nagar. This film was directed by Sushil Mukhopadhyay. The film was a great success and a star was born. At the outset Indrani worked in devotional films, but later moved to commercial ones.
Indrani received the Best Actress Award from the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association for Shedin Choitromaash. Indrani has over 41 films to her credit.
Indrani not only worked in the big screen, but also performed in telefilms including Thir Bijuri, Swet Mayor, Thager Ghar, and Hatat Bristi and also in serials, including Sesh Prasno, Chira Kumar Sabha, and Louha Kapat etc. She did a commendable job in both telefilms and serials.
Indrani’s liking towards dance is such that, she started her own dance school, based in Kolkata. Prior to commencing this dance school, she had a dance troupe of her own, which is called Srishti.
Indrani Dutta Kala Niketan is her dance institution in Kolkata and it is renowned in the whole of East India. A new talent is born from this school every day.
Indrani was requested to attend the American Bengali Conference many times and to exhibit Kathak dance. She also enacted the character of goddess Durga two times on television.The name of the show was Mahisasurmardini. The dancing prowess of Indrani was appreciated by critics and viewers.
