Vijay Lalwani is an ad maker turned film director. Early in his career, he worked at various advertising agencies including O&M, PSL Erickson, Laughter and Design, and Everest Brand Solutions. Lalwani worked with different brand names such as Hutch, Pond’s, Sprite, Fanta, Coke, MTV, Godrej, Times of India, Bajaj Auto.
Lalwani bagged a number of national and international awards for his creative talent in the advertising sector. These include a Cannes in 2004, Asian Media Advertising Awards, Silver and Gold at the Abby’s, Silver and Bronzes at the AAAI’s Goafest. He was also ranked in the hottest creative list in 2004-05 by Campaign Brief Asia.

The idea of a psychological thriller with a romantic backdrop seemed unique to him. Vijay put on his best effort in scripting his story of “Karthik Calling Karthik”, a mystery story about a psychologically challenged man played by Farhan Akhtar. Despite Lalwani’s creative style of direction, the film turned out to be a great failure from Farhan’s production house in 2010. Since then, Lalwani remains inactive in filmmaking.
