Sachin Khedekar

Actor Sachin Khedekar is very much known to Indian audience for portraying the role of national leader Subhas Chandra Bose in a biopic directed by Shyam Benegal. Bengal chose this actor because he had so much resemblance in look and personality that Khedeker tried to get into the mind and heart of viewers with his versatile acting.  This artiste was predominantly acting in Marathi cinema, and Benegal had discovered him to essay the role of freedom fighter Bose. Later, he played Tabu’s husband in Astitva and also performed in Ajay Devgan’s Singham and Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish-3. In the quest for good roles, the actor then took a break from Hindi cinema and switched to Marathi Cinema and Television. This actor started his film journey in 1990 with the film ‘Jeev Sakha’ and maintained an equilibrium between regional (Marathi cinema) and Hindi (Bollywood) cinema industry. He also then appeared in small screen with Shyam Benegal’s ‘Samvidhan’ and another TV Serial ‘Imtihaan’. Sachin Khedekar essayed the role of B R Ambedkar, the chief drafter of the Constitution of India in Benegal’s Samvidhaan. For his popularity in Marathi cinema, the actor was roped in to play the host for two sessions of Marathi version of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. Khedekar was not a trained actor in the theatre for a degree in acting school, but he learnt the skill by practice. His performance in Marathi stage and television helped him a lot to gain confidence in him as an actor, and he learnt the basics of acting from veterans like Sai Paranjpye and Vinay Apte.  Television remains his first love and identity too which helped him in fetching roles in movies. When Ekta Kapoor ventured herself into Marathi film production through ‘Taryanche Bait’, Sachin played the lead role, and he was appreciated by the audience. Similarly, when another Marathi film ‘Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy' got released it gave a fillip to the career of Sachin as the film remains biggest grosser in Marathi cinema. Today, he is real gem of an actor in contemporary cinema who can easily replace actor Sanjeev Kumar, who was known for his enormous talent and modest looks.
