He was also taken into custody in a hit and run mishap in which numerous asleep footpath residents were killed. But no charges got filed against him. He seemingly lost control of his car and while dodging a sharp corner, bumped into laborers napping on the street, slaying three of them and gravely injuring the other two. Puru too eloped away from the mishap site; the neighborhood was shaken out of sleep by the cries of the men as some of them are trapped underneath the back wheels of his car. Puru Raaj Kumar was never jailed even for a day and strolled away free after compensating a little less than Rupees one lakh for slaughtering three and crippling one person.
