Hindi Lyricist Naqsh Lyallpuri

Naksh Lyallpuri was born on February 24, 1928, and was a lyricist for Indian Ghazal and Bollywood films. Jaswant Rai Sharma, popularly known by his pseudonym Naqsh Lyallpuri, was born on February 24, 1928, in Lyallpur (now Faisalabad and present-day Pakistan) into a Punjabi Brahmin family. His father was a mechanical engineer. He disapproved of Jaswant's affinity for literature. The father-son relationship deteriorated after his mother died of chickenpox when he was eight years old, and his father remarried. In 1946, Sharma worked for a company called Publications and later moved to Lahore in search of work. After the partition of India, his family moved to Lucknow. Sharma later adopted the pseudonym 'Naksh' (meaning effect, symbol, or print) that accompanies his place of birth, following the tradition of Urdu poets, adding 'Lyallpuri.' Lyallpur moved to Bombay in 1951 and began working as a proofreader at the 'Times of India.'

He married Kamlesh and had three sons, Bappan, Rajendra, and Suneet. His relatives also adopted Lyallpuri as their surname. Lyallpur describes his wife as the "pillar of strength" that held him up through his failing years. His son, Rajendra Rajan Lyallpuri, is a potential cinematographer. He is known for such songs as 'Rasm-e-Ulfat Ko Nibhayen,' 'Tumhe Ho Na Ho,' and 'Yeh Mulaqaat Ek Bahana Hai.' Most well known. He also wrote one of his most memorable hits for Talat Mehmood from the 1956 film 'Diwali Ki Raat.' Until the 1970s, Lyallpuri's work did not go well.

He worked at the post office for a living. Jaidev, a musician, introduced him to the TV series and asked him to write the lyrics for the Hindi TV series Shrikant. Lyallpur went on to write songs for some 50 television series and his nearly 40 Punjabi films. Lyallpur has worked with Bollywood music directors such as Madan Mohan, Khayyam, Sapan Jagmohan, Jaidev, Naushad, Rabindra Jain, and Punjabi composers such as Surinder Kohli, Hansraj Bahl, Ved Sethi, and Husunlal Bhagatram. He has been working Since his first film Chetna in 1970; he had a close relationship with director B.R. Ishara. The film featured his Lyallpuri song "Main Toh Har Mod Par Tujhko Doonga Sada," performed by Mukesh. Lyallpuri's best composition was Tumhe Ho Na Ho.

Lyallpur has published two of her books. Teri Gali Ki Taref (On Your Street) could be Shayari's collection of non-films, and Angan Angan Barse Geet includes his songs from movies, TV series, and music albums. Lyallpur took a sabbatical from films within the 1990s, but until then, he gave us numerous hummable songs. Lyallpur suffered a hip bone fracture in March 2016 and was hospitalized in October 2016. He died on January 22, 2017, at the age of 88 at his residence in Andheri, Mumbai, and his funeral transpired at the Oshiwara crematorium.
