Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre is an Indian fashion designer. She was born on 3rd of October 1963 in Bandra, West Mumbai. She lives in Mumbai, India. She pursued her career in fashion designing. In 1998, she attended SNDT Women’s University of Mumbai to study fashion arts. After completing her course, she began designing and transporting Indian wears to famous boutiques in Mumbai for almost 12 years. Then, she moved in other countries to work on western styles. She addressed the changing styles in abroad.

From there, she started creating her own. Therefore, she established her company named AND Designs India Limited. She launched her first work in a mall, Crossroads. Nowadays, she had her own signature title Anita Dongre. She had her bridal designs, occasional wear, Menswear, and jewelry brands. Her industries are present over 650 points across India.

Her designs had been used in several award shows, red carpets, and International catwalks. Recently, she made Grassroots. It is a brand based on handicrafts traditions of India. She had collaborations with trusted NGO’s all over India. In 2015, AND Designs India Limited renamed itself as the House of Anita Dongre. Her company achieved a turnover of 700 crores. She had featured in the 2015’s series Growing India. It showed across 36 countries all over the world. Different magazines like Blackbook Magazine, Business Today, Forbes India, and Fortune India ranked her in the top most Powerful Women in Business World. In 2015, she got recognized as the women executive of the year by CMAI and Stree Shakti Women Awards organized by Kelvinator.

She received awards in the 2013’s Vegan Fashion Awards. In 2016, she was a speaker at the conference at Harvard India. She is a member of Boards at the Lakme Fashion Show. She mentored the next generation designers. In 2014, Global Desi, AND, and Anita Dongre had introduced to three different stores to the Mauritius Market.

Dongre had also worked on empowerment of women. She used to help the people of Rajasthan to make handicraft things. She had an association with a village of UP. She used to help women in that area. She contributes to a social institute. They provide the backward women with some waste products given by the designers.

She had a partnership with Mrs. Poonam Mahajan whoworks for the women in the Chatori village. Coming to her awards, in 2013, she received an award for Excellence in Fashion Design. In 2011, she had been given at the sixth Retail Jeweler India Awards the title of Elite Circle of Excellence. She got the Pantene Shine Award.
