Chandni Mohan

Chandni Mohan is an Indian Fashion Designer. At a young age, due to her love and fondness for fashion, she followed her passion and stepped into the Fashion Industry. Her enthusiasm and youthfulness is visible in her creation through the energy and vigour she incorporates in her work. In 2010, she graduated from Nottingham Trent University which is situated in England. In 2013, she came up with her own Chic Label called Selvage. She is a believer of beauty lies in simplicity and hence all of her creations are neatly detailed and have very minimalisticedgy styles.

Her label Selvage comprises of both style and substance. They are generally made from artistic techniques of 2D and 3D with the perfect touch of sharp detailing and finishing. The extra edge that she gives to her designs is the rare feature of being evergreen and timeless. This feature of being ‘ever in style’ has made her label popular amongst women. The name of the brand is derived from the words “Self Edge.” Chandni designs the label such that everyone can identify clothing with self-expression without trying too hard to make a statement.

Chandni has won the credible Grazia Young Fashion Awards for her accomplishments and achievements at such a young age. Winning the acclaimed award under the label alert category, helped her pave her path in the fashion business. She made her debut appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week’s 2014 runway project of Summer Resort. She has also marketed her label by getting media coverage from some of the top privileged magazines like Grazia, Elle, Harper’s Bazar and Klick fashion. She also owns a pop-up shop in India’s capital city New Delhi. She also showcased her work at the Winter Festival of the Lakme Fashion Week. At the young age of 27, she has experimented with out-of-the-box designs, silhouettes and geometry and proved her versatility. Her collection at the Lakme Fashion Week was inspired by the Preston Scott Cohen’s architecture,fabricated with the combination of sharp androgyny and feminine draping with a nod of asymmetry. She uses a blend of various fabrics like crepe, tencil, sand washed polyester, satin chiffons and hammer satin. Chandni says that Gaurav Gupta has been a huge inspiration and influence to her fashion knowledge as he taught her how to proceed with all the stages of fashion-making from production to business.
