Aparna’s childhood was a fairly distressing one because she grew up with a father who always remained sick so he couldn't give her all the love and playfulness that comes with a father. She wasn't all that close to her brother because she lacked connection. Along with this, she never gelled up well with her mother either. The household in which she grew up in was a conservative one which is why she grew up to become a kind of a rebel against her family and the conventionalities of society. She confesses that she was a very shy kid but gradually opened up to social connections and conversation during her college time. For Aparna, fashion and the intricacies were not new, especially because she grew up among a host of tailors and chunks of clothes everywhere.

Aparna’s love life blossomed when she met Ashish at her Institute of fashion. They used to study together and finally got attracted towards each other. Since her family was a very conservative one, her father was not very comfortable of her being in a relationship which is why Aparna immediately married her boyfriend in December 1993. She later parted ways after three years in 1996 Aparna launched her own line of clothes along with the label ‘Aparna Chandra’ and it received an immense response, in the year 1997.
