Sameer Sanjay Vidwans was born on September 24 and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. He finished his school education at M.S.S High School in Pune and pursued his college education at the University of Pune. In 2005, he did his post-graduation in Screenplay Writing, Film/Cinema/ Video Studies from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He had a successful start with the commercial play Nava Gadi Nava Rajya in 2010.

The drama focused on a young, newly married couple and how their life revolves. Despite being his debut drama, the show became a tremendous hit because of the plotline and direction. They got to enact the drama not only in India but also around India. The performance hit a milestone by running for over 100 shows. The drama also received seven Maharashtra State Awards, where Sameer Vidwans won in the Best Direction category. His next drama, Altun Paltun, also received so much love from the audience. In 2013, Sameer Vidwans made his directorial debut in the Marathi film world with Time Please. Time Please is the official movie adaptation of his theatre drama Nava Gadi Nava Rajya. After two years, he came back with the film Double Seat, in which, along with direction, he also wrote the screenplay and story.

Double Seat did great at the box office and also open to positive reviews from critics. He directed the film YZ in 2016, which got praised for its story, acting, and direction upon its release. His next picture, Mala Kahich Problem Nahi, explores the life of a couple who marries against their parent’s will and how after seven years, their love gets drifts away. In the same year, Sameer Vidwans directed a television series in the YOLO–You Only Live Once. The year 2019 turned out to be an exceedingly momentous year for Sameer Vidwans. He directed the movie Anandi Gopal, which is based on the life of Anandi Gopal Joshi, India’s first female doctor. The movie touched everyone’s hearts and met with only positive reviews. The film crew won 10 awards, including Best Director for Sameer Vidwans, in the Filmfare Marathi Awards 2020.
