‘Mrityunjay Devvrat’, is 31 years old. He is the Director of ‘Children Of War’ released on 16th May 2014 in India. He was born on 2nd September 1983. His parents are both designers from NID. He has made 13 documentaries and has worked on product designing, commercials and NGOs. The movie is based on ‘1971-Bangladesh liberation war’. The film was a budget of $ 1.2 million and in the Box office it earned $ 2.2 million (India and Bangladesh only). He was brought up in Bangladesh, for some years so it was natural for him to make a movie based on Bangladesh’s struggle for independence. Mrityunjay Devvrat believes in making movies to educate the society rather than to make commercial movies.
Critics have given him a positive feedback on his Directing skills. ‘Live Mint’ gave a positive review on the movie. The biggest achievement of this film is that, it influenced the Parliament of Bangladesh to pass a proposal recognizing 1971 war rape survivors as “Freedom Fighters”. This movie of Mrityunjay Devvrat also bagged ‘Remi Award’ for ‘Best Foreign Language Film’. He also got “The best Director award” at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, India in 2015. He also got ‘The Best Debut director’ in the International film award, Jakarta and also in Patna International Film Festival, 2015. He is married to Soumya J. Devvrat since December 12, 2011.
