, USA. Sushma’s stories often explore the ideas of home, identity, and the myth of the American dream.
Sushma became one of the twenty-five New Faces of Independent Film in 2021 by Filmmaker Magazine. She received numerous accolades for her short film “Anita,” which had its world premiere in Venice in 2020 and went on to play at more than fifty international film festivals, including Best International Short at Dublin, The Gotham Award/Focus Features Student Showcase, the NBR Student Grant Award, and Best Film at Columbia University Film Festival. NPR, BOMB Magazine, Focus Features Digital, Jet Blue Airlines, and Canal Plus, among others, have all highlighted Sushma’s work. Sushma wrote a short film, “Foren,” which premiered at Palm Springs International Short Fest.
