Gurbir Singh Gerwal is a very talented writer and director working in the Punjabi film industry . Born in Rajkot, Ludhiana, Gurbir graduated from Delhi University with a Bachelors of Science degree. At DU, Gurbir was bitten by the filmmaking bug, he started showing real interest in the entertainment world. He directed a few plays and short films, and eventually joined Film and Television Institute of India. He graduated in 1975, having made a lot of short films as part of the projects, he had to complete in his graduation. Gurbir got out of college and started working on short films and commercials and ad campaigns.
In 1991, he made his debut as a director in one of the most critically acclaimed TV serial ‘Need Ka Ped’. A thought-provoking drama about the life of a poor laborer who gets torn between his duties as a farmer and family role during pre-independent India. His next TV serial was another timeless classic, Eho Hamaara Jeevan. In 2006 he made his directorial debut on the silver screen with the Punjabi movie ‘ Mannat Mannat is an Urdu Pakistani drama that premiered o >> Read More... ’. A romantic story about an Indian soldier who falls in love with a village girl where he is stationed. The next movie released in the same year and it was a Bollywood film by the name of Coffee House. Since then, he has released films like Yaar Pardesi and Saadi Wakhri Hai Shaan. He is currently working on Parvaaz: The Journey.
