Kiran Shankar More born on 4 September 1962 is a renowned Indian former cricketer for the Indian cricket team. He has a sister named Shyama Bhosle. He was the wicket keeper during his active years between 1984 and 1993. He started playing cricket around the 1970s for the Under-19 team. in 1983. Between 1983 and 1984 he played two innings for Ranji Trophy in Baroda against Maharashtra. In 1985- 1986, he toured Australia under the Indian team. In the world cup series, Kirmani suffered a serious injury at the early match and unfortunate events lead him to quit his international cricket career. Kiram More played as his substitute for the rest of the matches. From then onwards, he remained the first choice for a wicket-keeper in all the coming test matches till 1993. His most successful Test series was in 1986 against England where he took 16 catches making a record, while also remaining second average in batting. Around 1989- 1990, he was selected as the vice-captain for Mohammad Azharuddin’s team. In the second test, he scored 73, which was the highest score. He lost his place in the Indian team in 1994 to his teammate from Baroda Nayan Mongia. After that he captained Baroda team till 1998. He opened his academy in 1997 called the Kiran More- Alembic Cricket Academy. He remained the Chairman of selectors for the Indian team from 2002- 2006.
A year after that he became the executive director for ICL. He was later appointed as a talent scout for IPL team Mumbai Indians. He has a fierce personality and has secured a very competitive streak of 130 dismissals and 1285 runs in 49 Test matches. He accomplished the Test record for the highest number of stumpings in an innings in a match during Hirwani’s Test at Madras in 1987- 1988. In 1993, he received the prestigious Arjuna Award for his significantly contributing to Indian cricket. His wife is Raavi More, and the couple has a daughter, Ruhi More.
