Rahat Taslim was born on 7th October in Jharkhand’s Giridh district. Her story of how a middle-class woman, who was a tailor, becomes the first woman winner of Kaun Banega Crorepati and gets a sum of one crore rupees is inspiring and motivating to all. She shows us how a woman, when given a chance, can show her knowledge and talents to the world. Being born in a poor Indian family, she was always an “unlucky” and unwanted girl child. Like most other such families, her parents married her off at a very early age. She, however, had some dreams and ambitions which were crushed. She wanted to become a teacher after completing her education. After she had finished her graduation, she aspired to be working and being financially independent.
She was married to Imtiyaz Ahmed, who worked at Mica Trading Corp of India. She also had two children, a 10-year-old son whose name was Faisal Iqbal and a 7-year-old daughter, named Tarannum Taslim. On 6th October 2010, she answered the KBC question with only 3 rupees left in her phone balance. Next day which was also her birthday and her wedding anniversary she heard that she had been called for auditions of the fourth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. She was informed that she had been selected on 1st November and the episode was shot on the 8th and finally telecast on the 18th. When asked how she had been so confident throughout she answered that it was her belief in her self that was the key to her success story.
Being a 37-year-old woman who is a tailor, living in a small district she had dreams and the ability to achieve them. With the amount that she won, she wanted to pay off her loans, open a boutique, provide good quality education to her children and give away the rest for charity. She is now the proud owner of a three-storey, well-furnished residence. Her story continues to inspire everyone who wishes to fulfill their dreams.
