Meera Syal was born on 27 June 1961. She is a comedian, writer, singer, journalist, and actress. She went to Queen Mary's High School and graduated from the University of Manchester. In 1997 she was appointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire, and in 2003, she was listed as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy in The Observer. Her father was Khatri, and her mother was mortal. When Meera was young, her family migrated to Bloxwich. Meera joined Stephen Joseph Studio during her studies. At the University of leads, she secured a place for MA in drama and psychotherapy. Along with Jackie Shapiro, she has co-written a one-woman play, One of Us. She gave her first performance at Stephen Joseph's studio.
Later, she performed at the National Student Drama Festival.
