Poppy Agha

Poppy Agha, or Amina Agha, is a celebrity chef, entrepreneur, and food connoisseur in the Bollywood film industry.  She is widely known for participating in a food show, A Taste of Fusion, which aired on DawnNews TV, and the Indian cooking reality show-Foodistan. She has been cooking for more than 17 years and specializes in Pakistani, French, Italian, Thai, and South Indian Cuisines. She hails from Karachi, Pakistan, and spent most of her life in London, United Kingdom. 

She got the name Poppy because when she was a kid, she pronounced the name of a Chinese restaurant as Poppy, and hence, all her family and friends started calling her by that name. Poppy Agha became interested in cooking after her grandmother’s chef, Zahoor, taught her how to cook a dessert when she was young. Before becoming a professional chef, she worked in software development in London and ran her family’s import-export business, specializing in biomedical equipment. 

After quitting the family business, Poppy Agha ran a catering service for some years and was interested in developing new dishes. In the reality show, she made various innovative dishes from traditional Pakistani cuisine and created a name for herself in the culinary industry. Apart from being a professional chef, Poppy Agha is also an entrepreneur and opened her cooking school, Poppy’s Culinary Institute, in collaboration with another entrepreneur, Zahir Rahimtoolah.
