Shagun Mehra is a Chef, a Sommelier, Trailblazer, 5th-generation Hotelier, Single mom, and a Style Diva. She started in the industry by showing her love and passion for cooking by starting her YouTube Channel and from there her journey was rising. Being on the show was in fact exciting for Shagun, as she got to provide equal opportunities for the female chefs, who are still not viewed as equally worthy in comparison to male chefs in the industry. She also states that the industry is slowly changing and it's a pleasure for her to work with women of the same interest as hers. She has traveled to more than 30 countries. After working as a chef and sommelier at Coco Shambhala- a group of luxury Villas in Goa, India, She became the Culinary Director of two amazing boutiques hotels under Coco Shambhala umbrella located in Goa and Sindhudurg. She believes in evolving, she hopes for the future to be more exciting than what it is presently. It can be Coco Shambhala expanding or her making her own wine, she states in an alumni interview with Les Roches- one of the world’s leading hospitality business schools in Switzerland. She polished her skills further by enrolling in Paris’ Le Cordon Bleu- Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute located in Paris. To further add to her culinary skills, she did training at the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastian- a faculty of Gastronomic Sciences.Â
She has co-founded the first accredited wine school in India and she herself trained the staff across India. She also mentioned how there is a weak wine-drinking culture and lack of knowledge in India. She also had the opportunity to represent India by ICEX Spain- an agency of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade. Her love for food helped her reach great heights. She was named one of the top 5 craftspeople in India by the Luxury Edition of Fortune Magazine. Plus she got to host and feature in a variety of shows for networks such as Ping, living Foodz, Arre, and in India Food Network as well.
Just like how she wants to create experience and memories through the food she creates, she also understands the importance of giving back to the environment. And to show her love for wildlife conservation and care, she co-founded the Ear to Wild Foundation. She also works with the Wildlife Institute of India to save elephants from train collision deaths. In addition to this, She is also working with the Goa Forest Department so that they can arrest turtle and dolphin deaths.
