Chef Rakesh Sethi

Being one of the most trusted, honorable and celebrated chefs in India, Rakesh Sethi believes that his purpose in life is to make Indian home- made food as attractive and appetizing as those in a multi-starred hotel. Born on 17th January, he comes from a Punjabi family. His father is an Indian Air Force Officer. Due to his father’s post, he often traveled all over, giving him the opportunity to taste and experience the diverse cultures. He has a plethora of home-makers and food lovers as fans. He is best known for transforming, trimming and simplifying complicated recipes and making them more available and abridged for the common men. His Alma matter, The Institute of Hotel Management in New Delhi, opened a wide door to success. He began his cooking venture at a very early age. He has over three decades of experience in working with reputed chefs and organizations. He achieved his culinary training in 1982. He, later on, went on to become an Executive Editor for food content at a prestigious lifestyle channel. He was shortlisted by the Hotel Corporation of India while he was still in a catering college. He won many accolades like the “Health Chef 2000” and the “Salad Chef” by the Indian Culinary Forum. He was also honored as the “Celebrity Chef of the Year” at the Golden Star Award Ceremony. He also authored over 65 food related DVD. He got married in 1993 to Renu, who is yet another fabulous cook like him. They together have twin boys, Kanishk, and Kaveesh. He also holds a position of Big Chef at RBNL. He promotes good food, healthy food and his worldly views on culinary magic on platforms such as 92.7 Big FM, Big Magic and Big Spark Punjabi on CBS.
