Ashwin Iyer is a chef, food stylist and food photographer from Bangalore. He was a contestant in MasterChef India Season 5 and became one of the finalists. He pursued an engineering degree in Electronics and Communication after which he worked in the telecom and UI/UX testing domain for web applications, online games and mobile phones. His creative career began when he found his love for food and art. This interest was developed as he started to cook for himself. He took his passion seriously when he got positive reactions from his online foodie communities through his Facebook page called Magicplateman. Iyer wanted his food to be an artistic expression. His style of plating is minimalistic and his liking for the Japanese styling is evident in his works. He gained recognition from popular personalities like the celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and co-owner of the two-Michelin star restaurant Noma in Copenhagen. Iyer has done styling and food photography assignments for a resto-lounge in Bengaluru.
