Concetta Tomei is a talented American theatre, film and television actress born on December 30, 1945. She was the only child of her parents and grew up in a small town of Kenosha, Wisconsin, United States. Concetta was a brilliant student who attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Post which she started teaching in a school in Milwaukee for around four years but she quit her job abruptly to pursue her acting dream. She enrolled herself in the famed Goodman School of Drama in Chicago where she received another degree, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in theatre arts.
After that, she started her professional career by appearing in the plays like THE CORN IS GREEN, CANDIDA, BLITHE SPIRIT and many others. She replaced Carole Shelley in a Broadway called THE ELEPHANT MAN thus making her Broadway debut as Mrs. Kendal. Around the 1980’s she moved to California, appearing in many regional theatres and also became a regular cast member in TV series named China Beach. Her television spree continued with many hit shows including JUDGING AMY, L.A.LAW, PICKET FENCES, to name a few. She also starred in films like TWENTY BUCKS, VIEW FROM THE TOP but were not big hits.Â
