Bengali actress Tanima Sen is one of the few female actors to enter the small screen (TV), big screen (film) and theater world after marriage. She had indeed broken the barrier for women. Her successful career in Bengali TV serials and films had dispelled the myth that married women can not become successful actors. She made her debut in TV serials after marriage with ‘Jodi Emon Hoto’ in 1995-96. Earlier to her debut in small screen, she was very much active in the theater which made her instant sensation. She appeared in a play ’Baluchari’ that was staged at Star Theatre in Kolkata and the play had continued for 500 shows. She also tried her hands as a playwright and had written a play “Swarger Kache” which was staged by theatre group Rangmahal.

Although she could not speak Hindi fluently, she was assigned the character because the script demanded it. The show has been aired on Colors TV from March 2, 2015, onwards. The serial is essayed on the backdrop of the lives of two families living in Kolkata; one being a Marwari family and other being a Bengali family. She was selected to play an additional cast in the serial, and she started gaining popularity among masses with her character Shobha Bose aka Nani in Color’s show.
