Kushal Chakraborty is an actor and director in Bengali cinema. The actor received National Award for his first role. Later on, he got engaged in his studies and did not face the arc lights till he completed his degree from Jadavpur. However, it is said that Satyajit Ray had approached the child actor once again for his upcoming movie ‘Jai Baba Felunath’, but this did not work out. After completing his engineering degree, the actor had moved to Gujarat as he was posted there. But he did not like continuing with the job and came back to Kolkata.

Even today people remember Kushals for his role as ‘Mukul’ which he portrayed in ‘Sonar Kella.' The actor had made a lot of impact on the small screen but had not received such favorable response on the big screen. He was bit upset as his films in his early career did not pick up well in box office although he was praised for his performance. When Kushal received a major break as an actor had obviously felt that the cinema media had changed a lot and got commercialized which did not go well with him. He felt that the Bengali cinema was looking for a commercial revival through star power and new-age ideas.

Kushal is also seen as an actor in TV serials such as ‘Bojhena Se Bojhena,' ‘Raashi’ etc. The actor made his directorial venture in 1999 when he directed a short series titled ‘Hiyar Majhey.' Later, he left an impact by directing episodes for ‘Shahiter Shera Shomoi.' Soon a few more TV series came on his lap, and they were a breakthrough for him as a director. The series include ‘Dhyattarika’ and ‘Bijoyini’.

Kushal was born in 1996 in Kolkata. The actor tied the knot with Sangita on December 11, 2009.
