Ujjwal Chatterjee

Ujjwal Chatterjee is a famous director, dialogue and story writer, lyricist, producer, and filmmaker. He is a national award-winning feature filmmaker. He completed his education at B.E. Model School, Howrah, West Bengal. His first Bengali feature film is Gondi. It won the National Award in 1992. It got selected for Indian Panorama International Film Festival (1992), Tashkent Film Festival (1993), and Fukuoka Film Festival, Japan (1993). His 2nd Bengali feature film, “Kaal Ratri,” was awarded by Bangladesh Film Movement in 1998 and got selected for London Film Festival (1999) and Hong Kong Film Festival (2000).

His 3rd Bengali feature film, Bhumika, has also won several awards. It was selected in the International Film Festival. His 4th feature film, Escape from Taliban, won the national award for best English Film. This movie was selected in the Toronto Film Festival and Melbourne Film Festival (2003). It screened at United States universities, including Harvard, Purdue, etc. His 5th feature film, Utthaan (2006), was in Hindi.

His 7th feature film, Swabhoomi ( September 2013), was based on Mahasavetadevi. He has also worked for numerous serials, including Seemarekha, Mayuri, Batighar Kanak Laxmi, and Andhara Alo. He has directed over 25 commercials, music videos of Rabindranath Tagore songs, and corporate advertisement films. He is a film-maker and CEO at Ujjwal Chatterjee Creations.
