Hansdip Bindra is an Indian film producer who has predominantly worked in the Bengali language film industry. He is a Sikh Punjabi, and he was born and raised in Kolkata, India. Hansdip completed his undergraduate degree at Lafayette College, USA, on a full scholarship, and received a graduate degree from Seton Hall University. He had the best of both worlds as a Sikh Punjabi: the rich cultural experience of traditional Sikh Punjabi rituals. By the early 2000s, he had achieved success as a technology entrepreneur and had decided to devote his time and efforts to his two passions: activism and the arts. Hansdip was a major figure in the Post-9/11 Civil Rights Movement and has since become a vocal supporter of equal rights. Additionally, he has been a devoted supporter and contributor to other New York City international film festivals like SAIFF and NYIFF. Hansdip also sits on the advisory boards of the Toronto, Canada-based International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) and the Punjabi International Film Festival (PIFF). Hansdip started his career as president of LAUGHistan by creating a trailer for the original TV pilot "Sikhs in the City."
