Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, in 1974, Rupam Islam is an Indian Playback Singer. He has worked in Hindi and Bengali films as a lyricist, singer, and composer. Rupam was born in the family of musicians, and his musical journey began from a very early stage. He gave on stage live performances and was the chosen child artist for Doordarshan and Akashvani. After completing his education from Ashutosh College, Rupam worked as an English professor at Taki Boys Multipurpose School. Rupam started his band named ‘Fossils’ in the year 1998 and released the first album called Tor Bhorshotey.

He became the face of his band because of his fine skills as a vocalist, singer, and composer. Fossils released six albums that broke the records year after year. In 2007, RnB (Rupam and Bumpy) was released, which went on to be the most sold album that year. Rupam’s second solo album called Na Hanyate was released in 2010, and in 2011, his third solo album Nishkromon was released form SaReGaMaPa. This album involved the live recording of songs, which included members from other rock bands as well. Rupam even worked as a music composer in a few films.
