Chinmoy Roy was a well-known legendary Bengali Indian actor. He was known particularly for his comic roles in the film. He could be seen in a number of Bengali films, making people laugh through his acting skills. Chinmoy Roy is still known amongst his fans for his versatility. His ability and talent grabbed him opportunities to perform in a wide array of movies. Chinmoy is still remembered for his role as Tenida on the screen.

Tenida is a fictional character who was given life by Chimoy, in the movie Charmurthi released in the year 1980. It was one of the massive hits of that era. Chinmoy made this reel life character come to a real one. He was widely appreciated for his role.Chinmoy was born during British era, on 16th January, 1940. His birth place is Kumilla. It is now one of the districts of the Bangladesh.

He did his graduation from Maharaja Manindra Chandra College. Chinmoy made his debut in the film industry (Bengali) in 1960's. He worked in Galpo Holeo Sotyi, directed by Tapan Singh, in 1966. Chinmoy has worked with other eminent actors and actresses such as with Robi Ghose and Soumitra Chatterjee in the film 'BasantaMilap' and worked with many others too. He did a commendable job and gained popularity with him comic character.His famous films were Charmurthi, BasantaMilap, Goopy Gyne Bhagha Byne ,Mouchak, Nanigoplaler , Subarno Golok and many others.

This iconic actor however succumbed to death on 17th of March, 2019 at the age of 79 years.The reasons for his death is said to be an acute illness due to which he suffered a heart attack and passed away. Chinmoy's wifeJuin Banerjee died few years back. Chinmoy also had a daughter and a son, who after his death are left alone and devastated due to this loss. His death marked extreme agony and pain amongst his fans and his co-actors. The film industry lost one of it's stars. It was a massive loss for both the family and the industry.
