Prodip Chandra Sorcar Jr. (P.C. Sorcar Jr.) is a renowned Indian magician, Illusionist, and actor based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He was born on 31 July 1946 in Tangail, Bengal. He is the second son of renowned Indian magician and Padma Shri award winner P.C. Sorcar and Basanti Devi. He has two siblings; his elder brother Prafulla, an Electrical Engineer, and his younger brother, a commercial pilot. He holds a doctorate in Psychology from the University of Calcutta. He tied the knot with Jayashree on 22 May 1972 and has three daughters; Maneka, a magician, and Moubani, a model, and Mumtaz is in the field of acting in Bengali films.
He is known for Gili Gili Ge (1989), a classic Bengali children’s movie in which he played a double role. Sorcar is the man who managed to vanish the Taj Mahal for two minutes in the year 2000, Locked himself in a trunk thrown into the ocean, and disappeared an entire train along with its passengers are examples of his mysterious and mesmerizing capabilities in the field of magic and illusion. He is also among the seven from Bengal whose image got released for stamps issued by India Post. He is the author of nearly twenty books on magic. He is also awarded the prestigious and renowned Merlin Award in the field of Magic.
