Sankhajit Biswas

Sankhajit Biswas is a famous Director of the Bengali industry. He was born on 21 October in Kolkata. He has done 3 year Post graduate diploma in Editing from Satyajit Ray Film and Television in 2005. He was one of the participants in the Berlin Talent Campus, in 2010. He is a prolific editor with great knowledge of his profession. He has worked in both documentaries and fiction movies, which were honoured and nominated in various events like Berlin, Toronto, Dubai, IDFA, Dok Leipzig, Yamagata, Museum Of Modern Arts and at various award functions in India. He debuts as a director through the film Dui Dhuranir Golpo / In–between Days, which is a documentary based on the transgender community in Kolkata.

It won the Best Documentary award at Kolkata International Film Festival in 2014. It was screened in various festivals worldwide including CPH: DOX, Yamagata and Dokpoint. He is famous for the documentary A Home in my heart (2022) and Longra (2019). He was honoured with the Best Documentary Cinematography award for Longra in Trivandrum, Kerala and Jury ‘s Special Mention award for A Home in My Heart at Signs Film Festival in Kerala in 2022. Another documentary The Wind in the Maruwa Field (2015) which was produced by the Films Division under the Government of India was selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama 2016. His first feature-length documentary was Hridoy Bosot which premiered at Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2022.
