Mamunur Rashid, a Bangladeshi Actor, Director, and Scriptwriter, was born on 29 February 1948 in Bhabandatta village under Ghatail Upazila in Tangail District, East Bengal, Dominion of Pakistan. He is the eldest of five siblings. One of his brother's names is Kamrul Hasan Khan. He did his SSC from Bolla Coronation High School and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. He then studied BA and MA in Political Science from Dhaka University.
He started to write drama plays in the 1960s and moved to Dhaka in 1963. He founded the theatre troupe Aranyak in 1972 and served as its Chief Secretary. The group's most memorable productions include Rarang, which deals with Santal's life, and Ebong Biddyasagar. He was the writer and performer in the stage play Che'r Cycle and the TV mini-series Itikotha (1994). He also performed in TV plays like Kacher Manush (2006), Suprobhat Dhaka, Somoy Osomoy, Ekhane Nongor, and Pachar, films like Monpura (2009), Mrittika Maya (2013) as Sattar Molla, Nekabborer Mohaproyan (2014), Saturday Afternoon (2019) as Mozammel Haque, and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's web series Ladies & Gentlemen (2021) as Sabeela's father. He was also a radio plays performer who worked in Kabor (1972) and Paruler Shangshar (2011).

He was the 2009 Merit Award winner in the Best Negative Role Actor category for Monpura and the 2013 Merit Award winner in the Best Negative Role Actor category for Mrittika Maya at the National Film Awards The National Film Awards gets presented every year >> Read More... , Bangladesh. He was honoured with the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1982 by the Bangladesh government and Ekushey Padak in 2012.
