Jalal Uddin Khan was a Bengali Composer. He was born on April 25, 1894 in Kendua Upazila, Netrakona. His father’s name was Shadaruddin Khan. Khan was influenced by the songs of Baul Rashid Uddin, and as a result of which, he started composing folk and Sufi music. He composed around 500 songs. In 2005, his songs were published in five volumes as Jalalgeetika Shamagra edited by Jatin Sarker. He was a renowned artist of his time who became a legend, even today people in his native village celebrate his birthday by organizing a two-day long Jalal Mela, every two years to commemorate him. In 2024, a program was organized by the Kendua Upazilla Authority on this occasion. Jalal Uddin Khan was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2024 in the musician category.
