Pinaki Chaudhuri, born on September 19, 1940, in Bengal, had a passion for fine arts since he was a child, which manifested itself in his learning to play the tabla. At a very young age, he became the pupil of the late Ustad Kermatullah Khan and quickly developed into a child prodigy, earning awards in different events.

He went on to become a film producer in 1977, producing two films, Suryasakshi and Father. Pinaki's expertise and comprehension of the media grew with each of his coming directorial initiatives, starting with Narak to Atikram, which masterfully dealt with the portrayal of women’s psychology, and their quest for independence.

Later he made two more Telefilms; Wazood and Ek bar phir, both of which dealt with topics concentrating on strong female protagonists.
