Dilip Kumar Mishra was born on 6 January 1939 in Calcutta. His father’s name was Late Haridas Mishra, and his mother was Late Kanaklata Mishra. He had a keen interest in writing stories and poems from childhood. He did post-graduation in Masters of Art and then completed his studies by doing P.H.D from the same college. He worked as Reader and Head of the Dept. Bengali Surendranath College. An accomplished educator and literary critic, Prof. Dr. Dilip Kum ar Mitra have won numerous honors and awards, including the Utpal Dutta Samman, the Shivkumar Joshi Smarak, the World Human Service Society Award, the Jyotsna-makha Das Smarak Samman, the Girishankar Samman, the Natyashastri Title, and the Natyabhusan Samman. Dr. Mitra has authored and edited several books. He has contributed to the making of some cassettes and wrote them in numerous reputable journals. He has about hundreds of poems, plays, dramas, and stories.
