Tandra Burman is known as an actress in the Bengali film industry. On 24 September 1940 she was born in Singur, Hooghly. Her father's name is Narendranath, and her mother's name is Yamuna. She has a tremendous amount of family estate. Her father was an artistry person, and he wanted to make his daughter an artist. So, he sends her to dance classes and Sitar practice. But in Tandra's village, there was no one who liked dancing and singing of a woman as they were very conservative.
Villagers always insulted her, but her father is an exception among the villagers. He constantly supports and helps her in making an artist. So, the family of Tandra came to Kolkata in a relative's house. Here, she was admitted to Chetla Girls' High School. But Tandra did not complete any degree as they went to another place to dwell. One day in Tandra 's house ,Satyajit Ray was visiting for the film Aparajita. But after editing, the part of her acting was removed. She faced various breakdowns before establishing herself in the Bengali film industry. But she and her father did not give up, and one day, Tandra was selected for the film Keri Saheber Munshi.
And through this film, she came into the Bengali film industry. Then, she played the role of Heroin in the film Atal Jaler Ahwan, and in this film, has the most famous song Bhul Sabi Bhul. The song Bhul Sabi Bhul was sung by Sujata Chakraborty. Tandra's other hit films were Dui Bari and Manjari Opera. After her marriage to Dwijendra Kumar Bandyopadhyay she left the film industry as she loved to spend time with her family. She was diagnosed with Oral Cancer at the end of her life and left us on 19 February 2018.
