Suman Chowdhury is a Bengali actor and professional model hailing from West Bengal. He studied at Burdwan University, one of the most renowned universities in the state, and completed his graduation In 2014. He joined the university in 2011 and was enrolled in B.Com. Suman has been an actor for ten years, starting his career in 2014. He has worked as a character artist in the Bengali movie Jaanbaaz and has played side roles in more than 50 mega Bengali serials. Suman Chowdhury belongs to the industrial city of Burnpur, West Bengal. He has been acting in various theater groups since his childhood in his hometown. Later, he learned to act professionally and acted in many serials.

Once, at the request of a make-up artist friend, he agreed to dress up as a girl and posted a picture on Facebook. He was then criticized and trolled by his friends, family, and relatives. People started mocking him for acting like a transgender person. After a specific time, Suman got frustrated and finally thought he would protest differently and would be supporting transgender people through his actions. He realized the ill-treatment they face from society and decided to stand with them.

He started the ‘Dadar Didigiri’ photoshoot wearing women’s clothes to change the mentality of society and accept transgender people as a part of it. Gradually, people started expressing their love for Suman’s initiative. To further break stereotypes, Suman dressed up as Durga to convey a powerful message that transgender people can also embody cultural symbols. His activism extends to addressing issues faced by transgender couples during the auspicious Bengali festival of Jamai Sasthi. Suman’s photoshoot ‘Dadar Didigiri’ emphasizes the right of trans individuals to celebrate and be accepted by society.
