Top 10 Telugu Movie Sequels

Movie sequels are films that follow up on the plot of a previous film. They are usually filmed after the original film's success and feature many of the same characters and themes. The following is a list of Telugu sequels that are currently available or will be released shortly.

1. Pushpa: The Rise

Pushpa: The Rise, Part 1, is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language action drama film. It co-stars Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil as the title characters. The film recounts the development of a coolie named Pushpa Raj in the smuggling conspiracy of red sandalwood, a rare wood that grows exclusively in the Seshachalam Hills of Chittoor in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Pushpa 2: The Rule, the sequel, is currently in production and is set to be released in early 2024.

2. DJ Tillu

DJ Tillu is a 2022 Telugu-language Indian romantic crime comedy film. Jonnalagadda plays the title role in the film, along with Neha Shetty, Prince Cecil, and Brahmaji. Despite receiving mixed reviews from reviewers, the picture was a box office triumph. Tillu Square, the sequel, is currently in production. A brief teaser for the film was also published recently. The film is expected to be released in the second half of 2023. Tillu Square will hit theaters on September 15, 2023.

3. HIT: The First Case

HIT: The First Case is a 2020 Telugu-language crime thriller film from India. Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma star. The story revolves around Vikram Rudraraju, a police officer assigned to Telangana's Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) who is tasked with investigating the disappearance of an eighteen-year-old girl. HIT: The Second Case is a stand-alone sequel to the film. The franchise will now release one new film per year. Nani was revealed to be the next titular cop position after the second installment in the HIT franchise's third installment. The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.

4. Bimbisara

Bimbisara is a 2022 Indian Telugu fantasy action film. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Catherine Tresa, Samyuktha Menon, and Prakash Raj feature in it. In the film, time travel transports King Bimbisara of the Trigarta Kingdom from the 5th century BC to the current world. Bimbisara was released on August 5, 2022, and earned positive reviews from critics as well as box office success. The principal actor stated that Bimbisara would be a four-part series, with the second installment premiering in August 2023.

5. Money

Money is a 1993 Indian Telugu comedy-thriller film. Ram Gopal Varma produces it under the banner Varma Creations. It is based on the 1986 American film Ruthless People. The film's success spawned two sequels, Money Money (1995) and Money Money, More Money (2011). Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001) was the Hindi remake of the film. The film received three Nandi Awards.

6. Arya

Arya is a 2004 Telugu-language Indian romantic action comedy film. Sukumar, a debutante, wrote and directed the film. Allu Arjun, Anu Mehta, and Siva Balaji appear in the film. The plot revolves around Aarya, an outgoing and free-spirited boy who falls in love with Geetha, an introverted girl who is under the protection of another person named Ajay. Arya premiered on May 7, 2004, to excellent reviews and commercial success. In 2009, Arya 2, a spiritual sequel, was launched. The sequel film's plot centers around three characters' complicated love-hate relationship.

7. Vennela

Vennela is a 2005 Telugu romantic comedy film. Deva Katta wrote and directed the film. Vennela was a hit with youthful, urban audiences and South Indian students in the United States. The film's plot centers around two students who go abroad to study. They develop feelings for each other. Their lives are flipped upside down when the girl's rogue ex-boyfriend shows up to wreck their love. Vennela 112 (2012), directed by Vennela Kishore, is the film's sequel.

8. Manmadhudu

Manmadhudu is a 2002 Telugu-language romantic comedy film. Nagarjuna, Sonali Bendre, and Anshu star in the film. The film went on to become an All-Time Blockbuster and won the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film that year. Manmadhudu 2, a spiritual successor, was released in 2019. This film's sequel is an authorized remake of the French film I Do (2006). The sequel film received terrible reviews and was a box-office flop.

9. Gaayam

Gaayam is a 1993 Telugu criminal-political thriller film. It is based on the Vijayawada Gang War of the 1980s. The cast includes Jagapathi Babu, Revathi, and Urmila Matondkar. Upon its initial release, the film was a commercial success, earning six state Nandi Awards in 1993. Desam was the Tamil name given to the picture when it was dubbed. The Godfather (1972), based on Mario Puzo's 1969 novel The Godfather, inspired the film. Gaayam 2 is the 2010 sequel to this film.

10. Kick

Kick is a 2009 Telugu-language action comedy film from India. Ravi Teja, Ileana, and Shaam appear in the film, with Brahmanandam playing a supporting part. The film's plot centers around a young woman named Naina. She splits up with Kalyan, a man who can't remain still since he's addicted to new activities. She accepts to marry a cop just to discover that he is after Kalyan. Thillalangadi (2010), Super Ranga (2014), and Thillalangadi (2010) are the Tamil remakes of the film. Kick 2 is a 2015 sequel to this film.
