Vennila is an ambitious woman. She is an undergraduate student, studying to be an IAS officer. But her father has a more orthodox mindset. He doesn’t want her to pursue higher education or fulfill her dreams. Against her consent, he arranges for her marriage. When Vennila hears about that, she is distraught. But making the quick, albeit hard choice, she decides to run away and continue her studies. She works very hard and eventually gets top grades. While studying, she meets Surya. He is an Economics professor in her college and also a board member. But Vennila is Sharadha’s student, who is Surya’s estranged mother. When he comes to know about that, he starts keeping her at an arm’s length.
Since as a teacher and a student, they have to interact, Surya and Vennila start to know each other. They find out that they actually like each other’s company and gradually warm up to each other. Gradually, they fall in love. However, Surya’s family doesn’t like Vennila. His cousins, twin sisters Abhinaya and Anandhi, are jealous that she is a better student than them, and try to get her expelled through devious means. Meenakshi, Surya’s aunt, also his foster mother, takes an unreasonable dislike towards her and warns her to stay away from her son. The story follows Vennila and Surya as they protect their love and navigate their path in life, despite all the hurdles thrown in their way by their family members.
