Tamil Thirai is a Tamil language Malayalam TV show that aired on the channel Surya Music, a Malayalam TV channel, every day for an hour from 8 pm to 9 pm. The show is re-telecasted on the next day from 3 am to 4 am. It is hosted by VJ Rakesh. Tamil Thirai is a music show in which Tamil songs are played for the Tamil people residing in Kerala. It can be said that this is one of the few shows dedicated to people belonging to a different language.
The songs are played along with the videos. The anchor, VJ Rajesh, talks to the Tamil people about the songs, the actors featured in them, the music directors, the singers, and also his personal inclination towards the genre of songs. Tamil-Malayalam mashups, i.e., the remix of both Tamil and Malayalam songs, are also featured in some episodes.
