Padmavathi is a soap opera that airs daily on Colors Kannada. The show is part of the prime-time programming of the channel and currently airs at 9:30 pm daily on weekdays. The show is produced by Sai Nirmala Productions. The show has Deepti and Trivikrama as the main protagonist of the show. The show also features Shenoy, Ashok and Arun Balraj in supporting roles. Contrary to popular belief, the show has no relation to the film by the same name directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The show is a quintessential soap opera with heavy themes of drama, love, and suspense. Along with these, the show has a larger theme of devotion towards God. Padmavathi revolves around the two protagonists – Tulsi and Samrat. Tulsi, played by Deepti is a simple girl from a small village in Karnataka. She leads a simple life with her family.Tulsi is a theist and a believer in Hindu Gods and Goddesses. She is an ardent follower and devout of the Hindu Goddess Padmavathi, from which the show derives its name. Tulsi devotes a large part of her life to the worship of Padmavathi.

She believes that whatever happens in her life is the wish of the Goddess Padmavathi and she gladly accepts it. Padmavathi is her source of strength and she believes that Padmavathi will never do her any harm. On the other hand another protagonist Samrat, played by Trivikrama is a superstar in the Kannada entertainment industry. He is a rich and hardworking guy who has devoted his life to his work. However, he is an atheist and believes that all people get what they deserve and to earn something they have to work for it. According to him his success is due to his determination and hard work.

Fate intertwines both of them, and they enter a marriage. However, their contradictory beliefs create a barrier between them. The show follows them as they try to understand each other and their values. Along with them, they have their family – some of them are helpful to Tulsi while others want to destroy their marriage. Can Tulsi and Samrat sort their differences? The show is interesting to watch due to its protagonists - theist and an atheist. The difference in their values, how they react to certain things and how they sort these differences creates tensions between them. However, will their contradicting beliefs allow them to live a happy life together?
