One interesting fact is that on 10 May 2023, the series got a new title, Nath- Krishna aur Gauri ki kahani. The reason for this is quite interesting! But let’s know how the story starts. 

In villages, it is pretty standard to sell women during a financial crisis in the family. But is this fair? Why are women treated as mere objects and not as humans who have a heart and soul, too? Our Mahua is a poor victim of this atrocity in the village landlord system. The story revolves around the dark and twisted life of Mahua, a bright- young girl unaware of the cruel customs of the landlord tradition. The village is dominated by ‘Ammaji’. Ammaji and her family are brutal and insensitive towards the feelings of other people. Her elder grandson, Shambhu, comes off as a villainous character at first, but then proves to be the only one with a heart in Ammaji’s family. When she was eighteen , her family had no option but to sell her to a wealthy man, Ramesh Singh Thakur. Shambhu tries to save Mahua whenever Ramesh tries to kill her. 

Things take a darker turn when a dark  revelation comes in the story- Shambhu was married to Mahua. As soon as he gets the news, Shambhu starts hating his wife. But gradually, they fall deeply in love with each other. Another disaster occurs when Shambhu is killed by Boondi (Mahua’s elder sister) and Ramesh Singh. Now, Mahua is married to Aryan Mishra, who is an inspector. Due to an absurd misunderstanding, Aryan and Mahua separate, taking one daughter each. 

Mahua’s life up till now is filled with men who glorify toxic masculinity. The show states women's empowerment from this point. Now, Mahua has become a school teacher, single-handedly raising her daughter Krishna. On the other hand, Aryan raises Gauri. Krishna grows up to be a kind woman, while Gauri is as vile as her father. After this, a lot of incidents take place. Aryan is soon murdered, Mahua mistakenly goes to Pakistan, and somehow finds her way back home.

Another evil character comes, Sukant, who used to abuse his sister-in-law, but before Mahua could expose his crimes, he throws her off the construction building and Mahua dies. Now that Mahua has died, the story focuses entirely on the lives of the long-lost sisters- Krishna and Gauri. The title from here on changes just because of this. How do the two sisters cope with their parents’ loss? Do they reunite or keep hating each other? The rest of the story deals with that.
