Initially, he used to read the scripts, choreographed, executed and shot the scenes. But now, he is also involved in the pre and post scenes. He looks into everything right from the casting, music, and editing. The project in its entirety is looked upon by him. He worked as a co-director in Ishqbaaz and then moved to Dil Boley Oberoi and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3 as director. He is working with Gul Khan Gul Khan is one of the leading Indian Television p >> Read More... and the banner 4 Lions Films. He later moved to supernatural daily soaps Nazar and Jaadu in which he decided to do something different. He introduced situational romance in these serials which he believed was different from the other shows.

Shifting from supernatural romance to a simple show was a bit of a challenge for him and his team. Yet, they still managed to make it work and that too incredibly well. Also, he is directing Imlie and Namak Issk Ka at the moment. All of these shows are aired on Star Plus and Colours. Since Gul Khan is a director herself, Atif is given the freedom in every aspect which he uses for pushing himself to do his best. He and his team are not only dedicated towards proper directing, but they also fill in the spaces for the additional crew that they require to shoot some scenes when actors are unavailable. He is working with his team to make some scripts for making content for the web although he does not have plans to produce his own show yet.

He believes that Imlie is a subtle and simple television show whereas Namak Issk Ka is a masala and pulp fiction. His team plays a huge part in his success. The creative director and the DOP help him finalize the looks. The background tunes and overall music is also very beautiful. Not only this, the writers and their scripts are perfectly supported and justified by the perfect cast. He is a very well recognised director and his shows are also very popular among the audience. He has also worked on O Gujariya: Badlein Chal Duniya. He likes to shoot scenes at real locations as much as possible rather than setting up sets for every scene. He realises the importance of keeping his audience intrigued and regularly converses with his team to keep up the twists and turns in his shows.
