Soolam, was a devotional serial telecasted in Sun TV,with big screen fame Suvalakshmi in the lead , playing the role of Parvati amma, with Kuyili, Tharini, Bombay Kannan, Anand , Kumaresan,
co-starring. The title song starting with a bang as “ Om Makali .. nee… vaa thaayee……mariamma……” sung by Mrs.
, in Johnson’s music , with Mugilan’s lyrics, was said to mesmerise most of the audience of this serial, particularly the women who are devoted to the Goddess Amman. Some magazines revealed that some of the women used to lit camphor in front of the television , at the start of the serial everyday. The brilliant choreography for the title song by Vaaman Malini was a hit and even it was said that many school going children used those dance steps when they danced devotional dances in their school functions and other functions too.. The graphic work s in this serial had a huge applause from the viewers.
The story penned by A.L.N.Mohan, the serial was directed and screenplayed by Ilavarasan. Produced by Saregama India Limited , Soolam was one of the tamil serial running for the longest .A felicitation was held for the artists and technicians of the serial in Rajapalayam, coinciding with its 100th episode. That was the first time indeed, when film enthusiasts and television viewers joined together and celebrated the success of a serial. Distribution of sewing machines for underpriviledged women, distribution of clothes to the poor people were carried on in that function.
The story , as usual had a common line that truth always wins over evil power ,but it was shot in a way that it pulled audience of all ages towards it. The story line also had some comedy scenes to have a lighter vein .The actress Suvalakshmi who has done an excellent job in her acting as parvat amman entered in the mind and heart of the viewers as Amman. In the serial Amman emerges wherever evil happens.
Special mention and appreciations were given to Senthilkumar for his fantastic job with his camera .
