Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanumaan Hindi tv-serials on SONY ENTERTAINMENT

Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman is the mythological magnum opus, currently running on Sony Entertainment Television. Narrated by Lord Krishna, to his wives, this serial depicts the story of Lord Hanuman, Lord Rama’s most devout disciple, who is a predecessor of the current comic superheroes, if I can say that. Starring Ishant Bhanushali as young Hanuman, and Mahabharata fame Nirbhay Wadhwa as the adult Hanuman, the serial depicts Lord Hanuman’s journey, as he rose from being a mischievous child, who mistook the Sun for a delicious mango, to the devoted warrior, who destroyed Ravana’s pride by burning the golden Lanka with his tail.

Produced by eminent production house and maker of shows like ‘Bharat Ka Veer – Maharana Pratap’, Contiloe Entertainment, the story begins with Lord Krishna waiting for Hanuman’s arrival. Intrigued by his excitement, Krishna’s wives, including one of his favorite, Rukmini, ask the importance of the guest. To which, Lord Krishna reveals his name. Lord Hanuman, the most devout disciple of Lord Rama in the Treta Yug, has seen his Lord in Lord Krishna and wishes to meet him. Curious to know more, Rukmini persuades Lord Krishna to tell him more about this guest. This is when Lord Krishna goes down the memory lane; to tell them how Lord Hanuman became the household name he is today.

Lord Kesari, the monkey chieftain, falls in love with a cursed princess, Mother Anjani. They marry, and very soon Anjani gives birth to Hanuman, who is technicall the eleventh avatar of Lord Shiva. His birth is an amalgam of coincidences and solutions. One of such tales involves Narada and Lord Vishnu, whose seventh incarnation was Lord Rama. Once, Narada Muni became narcissistic and thought none is more beautiful than himself. To remove this hallucination, Lord Vishnu created an elusive town, where he disguised himself as Mohini. Narada fell in love with Mohini and proposed to her, to which she asked him to participate in the swayamvar. At the swayamvar, however, Mohini chooses Lord Vishnu.

Surprised at the mockery Narada faces, he turns to look himself in the pond, and finds that his face is replaced by that of a monkey. Enraged, Narada curses Vishnu, that he would suffer separation from his beloved in the next incarnation. However, when he realizes his mistake, he amends the clause, with an addition: a monkey would assist Lord Vishnu’s incarnation in getting back his beloved. Hanuman is the result of this amendment. This serial explores the entire life of Lord Hanuman, including some folklore which was previously untold.

Also depicted in this serial, is an unexplored enmity between Raavan and Hanuman, where portions of Jain text on Ramayana, Ramacharita is adapted for. The serial brings forth Nirbhay Wadhwa, who had earlier drawn the ire of the audiences with his rendition of the lecherous Kaurava, Dushasan, in the television series, ‘Mahabharata’. He also played the noble Afghan warlord Hakim Khan Sur in another show on Sony, ‘Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap’. Also in the serial, is eminent actress Barkha Bisht Sengupta, starring as Hanuman’s mother, the cursed monkey princess Mother Anjani. Earlier known for serials like, ‘Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Radha Ek Shyam,' ‘Doli Sajaa Ke,' etc., she has infused life into the otherwise unknown figure of Ramayana, Mother Anjani.

Actor Aarya Babbar makes his television debut, as the demonic king Raavan. Gagan Mallick, known as Lord Rama in the magnum opus of Zee TV, ‘Ramayan,' essays the role, along with that of Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna once again. Also in the fray, is popular actress Deblina Chatterjee, reprising the role of Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Sita, among others.
