Plot
Maharaju (Vadivelu) is the MLA of Ramapuram. He belongs to a backward and very oppressed community. His son, named Raghu Veera (Udhayanidhi Stalin), is a martial arts teacher. However, the father and son have not talked to each other for a long time.
Leela (Keerthy Suresh) and Raghuveera love each other but are not able to confess their love. Leela wishes to provide healthcare services, and for this, Raghuveera gives his training institute to her. But some gangsters destroy this building. Rathnavelu (Fahadh Faasil), a wealthy and arrogant son of a late politician, is behind this attack.Â
Rathnavelu (Fahadh Faasil) wants to remove Maharaju from the position of MLA. He tries to make Maharaju and his son subordinates as they belong to the oppressed community.
Will Maharaju and his son be able to stand up against Rathnavelu? Why were Maharaju and Raghuveera not talking with each other for a long time?
Star Performance
Vadivelu, who played the role of Maharaju, gave the best performance. He shows all the characteristics of a political leader. His dialogue delivery and expressions are very impressive. He is one of the strength of this film.
Udhayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh gave a fantastic performance. The love between them looks beautiful on the screen. Both of them tried their best to make the film engaging.
Fahadh Faasil perfectly executed the role of Rathnavelu. He looks stunning in the character of a ruthless politician. His egoistic behavior is very natural and real.
Analysis
Nayakudu addresses the issue of social discrimination. It shows the significance of power in politics and how power makes a man corrupt. The film begins slowly but gains its pace as it progresses. The flashback showing differences in the father-son relationship makes the viewers emotional. The love chemistry between Udhayanidhi and Keerthy looks beautiful. The political campaigns, elections, and the problems faced by the lead cast add a realistic feel to this film. The second half of this film is more engaging as it is full of climax.
However, the screenplay of the film is very slow-paced. Moreover, Keerthy Suresh gave an outstanding performance, but her role is reduced soon. Lal and Vijay Kumar gave below-average performances.
