Plot
A couple falls in love but the girl’s father has arranged her marriage with her wealthy cousin. Now the couple must face, the cousin’s wrath to be united in love,
Star performance
All the actors do a formidable job. Nithiin and Sadha share good chemistry and are the backbone of this film. Gopi Chand is also fantastic in his portrayal. You'll feel a sense of hate whenever he’s onscreen which is a testament of an actor doing his job right. Shakeela is again typecasted in this film. She is not even substantial in the plot.
Analysis
The film is a typical romantic drama. Conflicts everybody has heard and seen. This film’s biggest strength is its acting and music, which elevates this film and takes away the routine nature of the film momentarily. The first half has a poetic tone and the second half is full of mass. The film’s music is spectacular and RP Patnaik deserves applause. The cinematography too is scenic. Now, let's get to brass tacks. The film suffers from a terrible screenplay, and slow narration. There are a lot of fluff scenes which only drag the runtime nothing else. It's like hiring a comedic actor to do his bid for 10-15 min and it's not substantial to the plot. The film is also cluttered; it sort of handles it in the first half but sprawls in the second half. The predictable climax is one of the reasons for it. Jayam is a typical romantic drama with melodic sound and good performances.
